Ms. Nicodemo and the All Four on Paws Club held their annual Valentine Day Bake Sale to raise money for the animals of the SPCA in Briarcliff Manor. Thannha Lai author of "Inside Out and Back Again," "Listen Slowly" and Butterfly Yellow spoke to all grades about being a writer. Here Ms. Lai is having lunch with sixth graders. Sixth graders prepare a special Vietnamese dessert (Banh Chuoi Nuong - Banana Cake) for lunch with Thanhha Lai, author of "Inside Out and Back Again," who is visiting Westlake Middle School on Wednesday, February 5th. Additional Photos. Students perform in "Shrek Jr." View Additional Photos. In Mrs. Ruggiero's Eighth Grade Italian Classes, students produced a fashion show in Italian. There is nothing like reading a book in the library! Sixth Grade Students learned about Egypt from guest speaker Mr. Michael Harrold. Mr. Harrold has traveled the world extensively and brought with him many artifacts from his travels. Students created ideas for a sanctuary space to shelter people affected by natural disasters at the Museum of Art and Design in New York City. Students create log homes and tepees in Mr. Messemer's and Mr. Hennessy's Individual and Societies Classes. Music is in the air during the month of December! The 6th grade musicians kicked off the month-long celebration of music and concerts. Listen to the 6th grade winter concert here! Students engaging in a team building activity in Mr. Korzen’s class. In the “Solo Cup Challenge,” students had to work together and think creatively to construct a cup tower using only string and a rubber band! Seventh grade math students put their fraction skills to the test as they doubled and tripled their recipes and baked treats for their classmates to share! Under the direction of Mrs. Sica, the Jazz Band rehearses. In Ms. Nicodemo's Physical Education Classes, students practice archery. Capt. David Glass, USN, (husband of our very own Mrs. Glass) visited our school and shared his experiences in Afghanistan where he was deployed from 2009-2011. Being a veteran, Capt. Glass explained Operation Gratitude to students and the impact letters have on our military stationed overseas as well as veterans who are back home. Through his slideshow presentation, Capt.
